Children dance before they learn
there is anything that isn’t music.
She was dancing before she could walk. Watching Angelina Ballerina and imitating the movements. Music speaks to her in a way that I don’t quite understand.
So we signed her up for a baby ballet class, and today she finally got to stand on the stage and follow her first dream.
She’s a natural.
The whole audience got a chuckle when, as soon as she walked onto the stage, she turned and waved enthusiastically at someone in the front row. The seat where I was sitting during dress rehearsal. Apparently the stage lights were so blinding that she had no idea she was waving wildly at a complete stranger.
I’m not going to lie, I got a little (or a lot) teary seeing my baby up on that big stage. She was pretty pleased when we presented her with flowers after the show, just like a real ballerina, but mostly she was worn out and ready to go get her favorite dinner at her favorite restaurant. Look at those tired little eyes. And that totally fake “smile.”
But then she found this little “stage” and decided she wasn’t quite finished with her performance.
The day took its toll pretty soon after we got home. This is where I found her shortly after telling her to put on her nightgown, and she didn’t even twitch when I moved her to the bed. Being a ballerina is hard work, y’all.
